On Thursday, February 26th and March 5th I went with my Into to Education Technology class and observed at our local elementary. I spent both of the days that I went with the loveliest 2nd grade class. These students were very well behaved. After leaving this class I was thoroughly impressed with how their teacher stuck to schedule and seamlessly transitioned from one activity to the next.
February 26th: my first elementary observation. On this day I was very nervous, I had never observed a second grade class so I wasn't too sure how it would be. Although I was nervous, I went in anyway and I was thoroughly surprised. When I walked in I was greeted by Mrs.Dayberry, she introduced me to the class and told them to be on their best behavior while I watched their class. During this class I observed them while they read aloud, timed themselves reading, sat quietly while they had carpet reading time, and did their online learning activities. Every student did what was asked of them very efficiently.
March 5th: my second elementary observation. This time when I went back to Mrs.dayberry's second grade class, I was not nervous, I was genuinely excited to observe them again. When I stepped in they were doing an activity where they write a sentence and share it with other classmates, after that they transitioned into a reading passage where they had to do a dice activity on it. Every student did what was asked, after all of that they did carpet reading time, finnally they did their online learning activities.
I learned alot about and with the 2nd grade class. Mrs.Dayberry is an amazing teacher whom I believe is bringing some pride to the elementary. I really enjoyed this observation and cannot wait for the next one.
